Regents House System
The students of Regents, grades six through twelve, participate in the House System. The students are divided into four Houses, Partick House, Athanasius House, Augustine House, and Anselm House. Academic abilities, athleticism and personal gifts were considered when assigning the groups. Siblings are assigned to different houses so that each may forge their own path. The time that they spend within their House communities will be at lunch, on occasion, while working on projects during activity periods, while cheering each other on at events, and throughout the day as they support and rally one another into their spiritual gifts and individual talents. Houses will seek to serve their community and relish in their gifts – from community projects to Tug-of-War.
Finding its historical roots in the Oxbridge (Oxford, Cambridge) institutions, the House system has served many purposes through the centuries. Regents instituted this system as it aligns with our vision of the Portrait of a Graduate (see Regents’ website for this profile).
Houses will encourage new relationships, offer camaraderie, and establish accountability. Houses will compete for points and ultimately be awarded a trophy at the end of each year! Just as the points on the compass rely on one another, the Houses are connected in Christ and under the banner of Regents. Students in the Upper School will trade out the typical student government model and experience unique leadership opportunities within their House with the naming of House Captains, Scribes, Historians, etc. Over this year the students will creatively design their own crest, choose their House colors, and adopt a motto aspiring them unto greatness!
Invite your child to tell you the details as many are excited about the endeavor of being Founders, designing a legacy for years to come! A Regents student is a student set apart. We anticipate that the new Houses will afford your child an experience that is unmatched in this area.
